Alain Ket Maridueña is a publisher, writer, Hip Hop historian, activist and graffiti artist from New York City. He was charged in New York City courts (Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan) on counts of felony criminal mischief, possession of graffiti tools, all relating to a search performed on his home in New York City in late 2006.

Alain Ket Maridueña‘s arrest had come in the context of a growing anti-graffiti sentiment in city government due to the growing gentrification of New York City and as part of the Mayor Bloomberg’s quality of life push, one started by former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Alain’s arrest appears to be politically motivated attack for his involvement with Marc Ecko and Ecko’s successful lawsuits against the city of New York in order to hold a graffiti event and repealing a spray paint sales ban to 18 year olds. Many consider the charges against Alain excessive.

The following is a breakdown of the charges faced by Alain Ket Maridueña in New York City as of 4-12-07.

• 1 count: Possession of graffiti tools, in violation of penal law 145.65 – Misdemeanor

Kings County

• 2 counts: Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree – Class D felony

Queens County

• 1 count: Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree – Class D felony

Any 2nd degree conviction carries a sentence of between 1 to 3 years (minimum) and 2 1/3 to 7 years (maximum).

Almost all blog platforms by default are set up so that a “dead end” piece of code is inserted wherever there is a link in a comment, so that search engines will not “count” the link as they are crawling the internet. • Pentru prima proba – concept painting, echipele vor avea la dispozitie aproximativ 8-9 ore si un perete de 15 m lungime si 2 m latime.
• Participantilor vor primi o tema data de la organizatori, pe care ei o vor ilustra in cel ma scurt timp si in propria interpretare.
• Cea de-a doua categorie – action throwups va dura doar 2 minute. Un participant din fiecare echipa va avea de scris un cuvant dat de juriu pe loc, cu doua culori alese de el.
• Pentru cea de-a treia etapa a competitiei – un membru va trebui sa faca o schita in aproximativ o ora, folosindu-se de markere speciale.
• In ultima parte a concursului, cea de tagging, un concurent din fiecare echipa va trebui sa faca aceeasi semnatura impusa de organizatori, cu ajutorul unui marker sau a unui spray.

Write4Gold va beneficia de un juriu international, cu nume sonore ale graffiti-ului la nivel mondial. Pe baza punctajului obtinut la fiecare proba, se va calcula un punctaj final, astfel hotarandu-se echipa invingatoare, care concureaza pentru premii de peste 2500 euro.

Write4Gold da astfel startul festivalului Mountain Dew Urban Fest ’07, primul festival din Romania care celebreaza cultura urbana, ajuns la cea de-a treia editie anul acesta. Urban Fest ’07 reuneste sub un concept umbrela o serie de evenimente adresate comunitatii urbane din Romania:

A venit momentul sa vorbim din nou despre FânFest, de aceasta data despre FânFest 2007 si sa va anuntam ca “da”, festivalul are loc si in acest an in ultimul week-end din august.

Asa ca intre 24 si 26 august va asteptam cu mic cu mare la Rosia Montana pentru cel mai mare eveniment de mediu din Romania.

Si ca sa va spunem sincer, in acest an nu va invitam la o mare petrecere muzicala, desi formatiile invitate sunt dintre cele mai faine, ci va asteptam la cea mai mare intalnire a activistilor de mediu si iubitorilor de natura din intreaga tara.

Asa ca daca nu te-ai intrebat nici macar o data ce se intampla cu padurea de pe dealul vecin care dispare in fiecare zi sau cum de se poate sa vezi mormane de gunoaie pe albiile raurilor sau in curtea blocului… mai bine stai acasa. De data asta ca sa vii la FânFest trebuie sa fii activist, sa ai o atitudine “verde” si sa crezi in “natura de cinci stele”.

Si pentu ca FânFest înseamna protejarea mediului, sa trecem de la vorbe la fapte prin:

• Demonstratii live – energie solara si eoliana, constructii ecologice, reciclarea deseurilor
• Workshopuri si prezentari – drumurile verzi, agricultura ecologica, incalzire globala, organisme modificate genetic, comert echitabil, agrodiesel
• Campanii de mediu in Romania
• Activitati interactive de mediu – biodiversitate la Rosia Montana, fluturi de noapte la FânFest

Te invitam sa sustii cel mai mare festival de mediu din Romania si campania Salvati Rosia Montana. Pregatirile pentru FânFest au inceput, iar in acest an te asteptam cu mai multe activitati “verzi” si manifestari culturale. Fie ca doresti sa fii voluntar sau faci o donatie, nu ezita sa iti oferi sprijinul pentru realizarea festivalului. Daca tot te pregatesti de FanFest 2007, arunca un ochi la linkurile de mai jos si actioneaza de pe acum:

• Voteaza pentru interzicerea cianurii in minerit si trimite macar o petitie pentru a-i convinge pe deputatii din judetul tau sa mearga la vot astfel incat proiecte asemeni celui de la Rosia Montana sa nu aiba niciodata loc in Romania.
• Amprenta pe care oamenii o lasa asupra Pamantului este in prezent de 23% mai mare decat puterea sa de regenerare. Masoara-ti propria amprenta (‘ecological footprint’) ca sa stii de unde sa incepi pentru protejarea naturii.

Crews who have won or placed the 2nd in past competitions europeanwide.

• Is there extra space to paint?
Yes, if you like to paint on one of the classic venues please send a registration via their registration form.

• Who is judging the classic competitions?
A local judge and (NEW) the crews himself. The Write4Gold Classics like to improve the idea of the new judge vote system. The crews have to judge themself. That means every crew have to send 2 members to judge the other crews. After a summary of all points and the local judge we will announce the winner. If that work we will set it up for the next official competitions.

• The winners of the Write4Gold Classics 2007 went to a final?
No, the Write4Gold Classics are non-qualification events. We only provide some winner prizes which we announce later.

• Whats happen at the splash! Festival this year?
the splash Festival provide the venue for the main Classic Event, the Write4Gold World Classics. We invite all winners and 2nds to the splash Festival 2007 to celebrate with us the 5th chapter and to talk about the future of Write4Gold. Of course they will paint for the first Write4Gold Classic Title Holder.

• Does that mean theres no official Write4Gold Competition this year?
There will be a Write4Gold Competition this year. The 6th chapter of Write4Gold start in autumn 2007. The Write4Gold 2007/2008 start with oversea venues like South Africa, Australia, USA, China, New Zealand.

• When is the next official european competition?
In Spring 2008 we start our next official european competitions! That means for the Finals 2008 compete the winners of the oversea venues of 2007 (autumn) and the next official european eliminatins in Spring and Summer 2008. The next official final will be happen at splash! Festival 2008!
